3 steps to go from Feeling Stuck in Life to Living a Dream Life
All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.
~Walt Disney
Rise and shine! It’s time to start living.
You can’t just go through life feeling stuck, wishing you had a better life. Get up, take a deep breath, and do something about it!
In this blog post I’ll share with you how to get from feeling stuck to living your dream life.
I will be covering the following topics:
-How not knowing what you want can hold you back from achieving your goals.
-What are some things that might be holding you back from going after your dreams.
-How you can get unstuck by taking action steps today!
Lets get started!
What do you want in life?
Many of us know what we don’t want in life-
What we don’t want to eat for dinner,
What we don’t want in a potential partner,
What we don’t want in a house we are looking at purchasing…
This list could go on.
But very few of us clearly know what we DO want in life.
Have you identified what you want in your life?
While I was working 9-5 and always felt terrible about not being available for my young children, I spent so much energy feeling overwhelmed, sad, guilty, these emotions were so empowering that I couldn’t see beyond it. I felt stuck.
But when I shifted my focus from the problem I was facing to what I wanted to change about this situation I was in, I had that space to imagine what my dream life looked like. I could then create and execute a plan- that led me to working 2 days a week for the same company at the same salary I was getting when working 5 days a week.
I know it sounds ridiculous; but when we are so clear with what we want, it has no other outcome but to manifest.
So, get clear on what you want in life.
What is holding you back from living your Dream Life?
Now that you know what you want in life, the secret is in understanding what has been holding you back from living this dream life.
Is it the lack of knowledge, support, finance, motivation, time?
Or something else.
Once you identify this, you you can seek out what you require and then create a roadmap to get you from where you are currently to our dream life – actioning one small step at a time.
For example, if you’ve identified the lack of support as a factor holding you back from living your dream life, you’ll need to start reaching out to fill your life with people who care about you and make you feel good about yourself.
And now that you know what you need, you can start building a strategy for how you are going to reach out.
Taking Action- The Magic Pill that makes your Dream Life a Reality
Creating a strategy is all fun, but when you go and have to implement it, well it can sometimes be so scary that we might simply want to resort back to the safety of our comfort zone, in spite of feeling stuck and trapped in it.
For example, while you’re all pumped up to lose that weight, you plan to get up in the morning and go for a run. However, when the alarm sounds, your brain can sweetly talk you out of the plan and tell you to go back to sleep. After all, there’s always another day for a run.
This resistance always takes place whenever we try to change something- especially something we have been doing for a long time.
The good news is that this is common as this occurs because your body is sending a signal to your brain that something is not right as it’s not producing the same signals as it was producing every other day. And so your brain tells you a story to stop you from creating this change in your behaviour. That is why changing a habit is difficult, so you need a solid plan to stick to a habit.
Here are some tips to make sticking to a habit easier.
- Once you find a habit you want to start, make it easy to do -by making it as simple as possible.
- Write down in detail about when and how you’ll perform the new habit. You don’t want to be wasting any energy deciding on the hows before executing your new habit.
- It’s easy to get all enthusiastic and create big goals and get frustrated when you are not able to stick to it. The tip is to set realistic goals for yourself and not be too hard on yourself if you miss a day or two.
- Celebrate your achievements- setup rewards for yourself that are related to your habit.
- Get help from friends and family members who support you in staying committed to your goal.
- Invest in a mentor and coach who has achieved what you’re striving for and ask them how they did it.
